  1. TITLE: 950118 APTIVA APPLICATION PROBLEMS UNDER WARP.

  3. DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS:
  4.  
  5. After installing WARP on Aptiva machines there are a number of
  6. problems with the applications that are shipped with the
  7. machine. Below are some problems are being identified and
  8. fixes:
  9. 1. The proper icons for some of the applications is replaced by the
  10.    OS/2 standard Windows icon.  This will be fixed in a future release
  11.    of OS/2.
  12.  
  13. 2. For Undersea Adventure and Discoverers do the following:
  14.   a. Edit the file C:\SEA\KA.CNF and change the CDdrive field from E
  15.      to D and do a change of all the E: to D:.  Save the changed file
  16.   b. Edit the file C:\SEA\SEA.BAT and change of all the E: to D:.
  17.      Save the changed file
  18.   c. Edit the file C:\SEA\DISCOVER.BAT and change of all the E: to
  19.      D:.  Save the changed file
  20.   d. Go to the "Settings" notebook for each of the two programs by
  21.      doing the following and make the indicated changes:
  22.      1) Point the mouse pointer at the icon
  23.      2) Press the right mouse button once to get the context menu
  24.      3) Move the mouse pointer to Settings and press the left mouse
  25.         button once
  26.      4) Change the "Path and file name:" field from
  27.         C:\SEA\PS1CDROM.EXE (in the Undersea Adventure)
  28.         C:\DISCOVER\PS1CDROM.EXE (in the Discoverers) to
  29.         C:\WINDOWS\PS1CDROM.EXE
  30.      5) Press the left mouse button on the "Session" tab
  31.      6) Press the "WIN-OS/2 settings button
  32.      7) Select the DOS Memory settings
  33.      8) Set DOS_HIGH to ON
  34.      9) Set DOS_UMB to ON and save the settings
  35.     10) Select the button for WIN-OS2 full screen
  36.     11) Double click the control box in the upper left corner of the
  37.         "Settings" notebook to close it.
  38.     Note: Sound currently does not work for the Discoverers
  39.           application.  This is being worked on.

  41. 3. Reuters - When Reuters (Money Network) is started from it's
  42.    migrated icon or from Windows Program Manager it displays "...not
  43.    enough file handles..." dialog. Program can not open or create
  44.    files. The README.WRI file recommends 100 file handles be specifies
  45.    when running under OS/2.  Set DOS_FILES to 100 with the following
  46.    steps:
  47.  a. Point the mouse pointer at the Reuters icon
  48.  b. Press the right mouse button once to get the context menu
  49.  c. Move the mouse pointer to Settings and press the left mouse
  50.     button once
  51.  d. Press the left mouse button on the "Session" tab
  52.  e. Press the "WIN-OS/2 settings button
  53.  f. Select the Other DOS settings
  54.  g. Set DOS_FILES to 100 and save the settings
  55.  h. Double click the control box in the upper left corner of the
  56.     "Settings" notebook to close it.

  58. 4. The following are some of the problems being addressed.
  59.  a. Music Mentor gets a General Protection Fault when the "To
  60.     Session" button is pressed.
  61.  b. Rapid Resume does not currently work under OS/2
  62.  c. Running Disney Software Preview seamless hangs the system
